Service Call 57
10th October @ 17:54 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a small vessel with fuel problems off Broadstairs.  Once on scene the decision was made that the safest course of action was to tow the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

10th October @ 13:23 AWB launched to a yacht with 1 person on board, 11 miles north of North Foreland, who had put out a "PAN PAN". Before the AWB arrived on scene a wind farm support vessel had reached the casualty and had it in tow.  Once on scene the tow was transferred to the AWB which then towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

23rd September @ 17:35 AWB launched to assist with a yacht with potential engine room fire, under tow by the guard vessel "Atlas".  On scene the AWB escorted the yacht whilst under tow until it was inside the outer turning circle.  Once there the tow was transferred to the AWB at the request of "Atlas", where the casualty was then towed onto a berth in the harbour.  Atlas requested that the AWB took the tow as it would have struggled to get through the harbour entrance with the yacht.

15th September @ 08:10 AWB l(Relief Severn) launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a motor vessel just off the harbour approach channel with both engines having failed, with 2 persons on board.  After assessing the situation the decision was made to tow the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

12th September @ 10:00 ILB launched to a yacht with engine failure near the Quern Bank with 2 persons on board at anchor.  ILB decided that the safest course of action was to take the vessel in tow as it was close to the Quern Bank back to Ramsgate.

11th September @ 11:28 ILB launched to a yacht aground in Pegwell Bay.  Once on scene the ILB found the vessel to have re-floated and therefore escorted it into deeper water, where the casualty was able to continue onto Dover.

10th September @ 13:53 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a motor vessel with engine failure in the river Stour. On scene the ILB were unable to find any vessel in the given area.  ILB spoke to a seal trip vessel and found out that the vessel in question was up on Sandwich Quay.
Service Call 49 & 50
9th September @ 06:18 Both boats launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report of a person overboard from a small cabin cruiser. Whilst making way to the scene a report came in that the missing person had managed to swim 1.5 miles ashore, wake a friend and talk to the Coastguard, informing them that she was safe and that there was one other person aboard the vessel who had requested assistance by VHF.  ILB made its way quickly to the scene, transferred a crewman onboard and Escorted the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour. AWB had been stood down once it was known that the missing person was safely ashore.

8th September @ 14:07 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report from a member of the public of a small motor boat with 2 persons on board frantically waving.  On scene the ILB found the casualty vessel which had suffered main engine failure, but were making slow progress using an auxiliary engine.  Due to the slow progress the decision was made to take the vessel in tow and bring into Ramsgate Harbour.

7th September @ 16:29 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a 35ft yacht with engine failure and the lone yachtsman with a suspected broken hand, therefore unable to sail. On scene the AWB transferred 2 crew aboard the yacht to assess the injury to the yachtsman, and found that he had broken his ring finger.  After splinting his finger, putting his arm in a sling and administering Entonox, the crew aboard the casualty assisted with attaching the AWB tow rope.  The AWB then proceeded to tow the casualty into Ramsgate harbour with the two crewmen remaining aboard the yacht to monitor the yachtsman and assist with mooring once the yacht was alongside in the harbour. Once the yacht was safely alongside, the casualty was taken aboard the AWB and brought back to the boathouse. After making ready the Lifeboat, the casualty was taken by car to A & E.

1st September @ 16:20 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report from a fishing vessel of a kayak with no one on board 17 miles SSE of Ramsgate. Once we arrived at the given location we then commenced our given search pattern and after a hour into the search the kayak was spotted. We pulled the partially deflated kayak aboard, which looked like the type you would use at the beach, and gave the Coastguard all the relevant information. The Coastguard were then happy to stand the AWB down, which then returned to station.

1st September @ 16:20 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report from a fishing vessel of a kayak with no one on board 17 miles SSE of Ramsgate. Once we arrived at the given location we then commenced our given search pattern and after a hour into the search the kayak was spotted. We pulled the partially deflated kayak aboard, which looked like the type you would use at the beach, and gave the Coastguard all the relevant information. The Coastguard were then happy to stand the AWB down, which then returned to station.

29th August @ AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a 19m yacht with no propulsion.  On scene the AWB found the casualty at anchor and after weighing up the situation regarding the wind and tide decided that the safest and only option was to tow it into Ramsgate Harbour.  Once in the harbour the AWB changed the tow to an alongside tow and put the casualty alongside a mooring.

28th August @ 08:15 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a person overboard from a cargo vessel in the shipping lane. Under the coordination of UK Coastguard the AWB carried out 2 extensive parallel searches for nearly 10 hours, along with Walmer Lifeboat (A85), Dover lifeboat (Severn), Coastguard Helicopter and Coastguard fixed wing aircraft who all carried out other searches coordinated by UK Coastguard.

At 18:00 the AWB returned to Station for well needed fuel and crew change, after having fully completing the second search pattern.

At 18:30 AWB returned to sea and carried out further searches, coordinated by UK Coastguard, well into darkness. At about 22:30 the AWB was stood down and returned to station.

Service Call 42
27th August @ 12:26 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to an ex-ships-lifeboat with engine trouble, near the harbour approach channel, with 2 persons on board.  ILB assessed the situation on scene decided that due to the wind and tide and intermittent engine, it was safer to tow the casualty into the harbour and onto a berth.

22nd August @ 22:05 ILB returned to incident 40 once the tide had risen enough, attached a line and were able to tow the yacht off the bank and into deeper water.  Once in safe water and all was well with the yacht, the ILB escorted the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

22nd August @ 16:45 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a grounded yacht in Pegwell Bay near the B2 Buoy with 2 persons on board. On scene the ILB found the yacht to be high and dry and as the tide still had a further 2 hours until low tide, were unable to get the yacht moving. The ILB contacted the crew aboard the yacht to see if they wanted to be taken ashore, but declined and wanted to stay aboard. ILB informed UK Coastguard of the situation and returned to station, with a plan to return once the tide had risen.

Service Call 39
21st August @ 08:34 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report from a member of the public of a suspected body in the water off Ramsgate main beach, which had also been reported by  a passing vessel.  On scene the ILB investigated the suspect body and found it to be a large mass of sea weed that was floating on the surface. ILB informed UK Coastguard who stood the ILB down. ILB then returned to station.

15th August @ 17:06 ILB launched to a report of 2 swimmers caught in a RIP Tide off Ramsgate main sands.  ILB carried out a search from main sands to Dumpton Gap and spotted 2 persons walking up the slope at Dumpton Gap that matched the description given by UK Coastguard.  ILB stood down @ 18:10 and returned to station.

14th August @ 18:32 ILB launched to a report of a person in the water in the inner harbour. Unfortunately due to the low tide the lock gates were closed, so the ILB would not be able to get on scene. The crew that were already dressed in drysuits and lifejackets made their way to the scene by cars.  Once on scene it was found that the person had been recovered from the water by harbour staff in their harbour launch.  Crew then returned to station.

14th August @14:56 ILB launched to a report of a kayak in difficulty with 2 persons on board at Stone Bay. On scene the ILB was informed by UK Coastguard that a RIB had collected the 2 casualties from the kayak.  ILB then met up with the casualties and waited until the kayak made its way ashore.  ILB then returned to station.

13th August @ 18:23 ILB launched to a 40ft yacht with engine failure approximately 2 miles ENE of Ramsgate with 4 persons on board. On scene the ILB found the yacht to be sailing well and decided to escort it into the turning circle. During this time it was discovered that the yacht was taking in water. After one of the ILB investigated, the stern tube gland was tightened and the yacht towed the rest of the way into Ramsgate Harbour.

9th August @ 19:05 ILB launched to a 13m yacht aground in the Harbour Entrance. ILB managed to get the casualty into deeper water, where it then made its own way onto a berth.

31st July @ 1459 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report from a member of the public, of a swimmer in distress off King George park.  On scene the ILB found the swimmer who was in no difficulty and had appropriate lifesaving equipment.  False alarm with good intent.

Service Call 32
15th July @ 16:34 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report of a person in difficulty in the water at Sandwich Bay.

The person was retrieved from the water by a passing Hugo Boss yacht and when the ILB arrived on scene, transferred him to the ILB. A Thanet Offshore Wind Farm vessel (Windcat 21) was also on scene and the decision was made to then transfer the casualty along with an ILB crewman to it as he was suspected to be in the early stages of hypothermia and the windfarm vessel was more stable in the swell.  UK Coastguard had also tasked a helicopter Rescue 163 but was cancelled as it was easier to bring the casualty into Ramsgate and hand straight over to an awaiting ambulance.

25th June @ 01:40 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a report of a person suspected to be in the water off Ramsgate Main Sands.  ILB carried out an extensive shoreline search, with Coastguard mobile units covering the shore. After approximately an hours search a report came in that the person was safely ashore and in no difficulty.  ILB was stood down and returned to station.

17th June @ 22:51 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a small Dutch Barge with 1 person on board, 10 miles East of Ramsgate, having difficulty making way to Ramsgate.  AWB arrived on scene, passed a line, then proceeded to tow the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

16th June @ 1821 ILB launched to the assistance of a small yacht with 2 persons aboard, broken down at the mouth of the River Stour.  ILB passed a line and once the casualty had retrieved his anchor, towed him into Ramsgate Harbour.

15th June @ 08:05 ILB launched to a yacht aground just outside the harbour.  On scene the yacht was found to be high and dry.  The ILB assisted with putting the yachts anchor out, and will return to scene when the tide has risen enough to re-float the casualty vessel.

11:30 ILB returned to the casualty, transferred a crew member aboard to assist with raising the anchor, attached a line and towed the casualty into deeper water, then on to Ramsgate Harbour.

Service Call 26 & 27
13th June @ 13:17 ILB launched after the Coastguard received a phone call from some concerned persons that 2 adults and a child from their group could be cut off by the tide.  ILB carried out a thorough search from Stone Bay to Botany Bay and could only find 3 girls on the beach at Stone Bay, who were all ok.  From Botany Bay on their return leg, assisted the Lifeguards at Joss Bay with an inflatable with 2 persons on board.  ILB collected the 2 persons from the inflatable, their inflatable, Lifeguard and Lifeguard Body Board, and returned them all back to the beach.

The ILB was then asked if they could give advice to someone else in another inflatable.  ILB then returned to station.
Service Call 24 & 25
ILB launched to a report of a kite surfer in difficulty down by the Western Undercliff.  ILB found the kite surfer and got him into the ILB, where he was then dropped off ashore.  The IB then retrieved his Kite Surfing equipment and returned to Ramsgate Harbour. On arrival at the Harbour the ILB found a yacht aground under port control.  The ILB attached a line and towed the yacht into deeper water, where it was able to make its own way into Harbour, with the ILB escorting.

9th June @ 18:26 Both ILB & AWB were launched at the request of UK Coastguard to assist Margate Lifeboat with a search for a missing vessel.  Just before we arrived, Margate spotted the missing vessel.

9th June @ 12:54 AWB launched to a motor cruiser with 3 persons on board with no drive at the prop. A yacht was standing by the casualty until we were within 10 minutes of arrival. On scene we passed a line and proceeded to tow the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour where we put it alongside a berth.

6th June @ 12:22 ILB launched to a small cruiser with 8 persons on board with engine failure in Sandwich Bay.  ILB passed a line and towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

6th June @ 08:28 ILB launched to a 7m yacht with one person onboard with engine failure off Joss Bay.  The ILB transferred one crew member aboard the yacht to assist the lone sailor and after passing a line, towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

Service Call 18
4th June @ 21:33 ILB launched to a report from a member of the public of a person walking into the water.  On scene the ILB found a man in waders with a fishing rod and head torch, in no danger what so ever. After a quick chat the ILB returned to station.  False alarm with good intent.
Service Call 17
2nd June @ 14:48 ILB Launched after a member of the public reported a kayaker in difficulty off Ramsgate Main Sands.  ILB found the kayak tied to the Winterstoke Outfall and then carried out a search between the kayak and the 1st informant, who was then able to confirm that the kayaker was safely ashore. After collecting the kayak the ILB returned it to its owner, who had tied it to the Winterstoke Outfall in order to go snorkeling.

With a tide of 2-3 knots it was no surprise that he was unable to return to his kayak, but was fortunately able to swim ashore.

2nd June @ 13:45 ILB launched to a report of an inflatable with 1 female adult and 4 children (3 girls & 1 boy), drifting out to sea at the back of Port Control.

As the ILB arrived on scene, two other women were trying to make their way to assist.  ILB picked up the 5 from the inflatable and the 2 other women. The two that came to assist were dropped back to the beach to re-join their families, those from the inflatable were brought back to the boathouse, along with their inflatable.

31st May @ 16:06 ILB launched to the assistance of a yacht with engine failure, 2 persons on board, off North Foreland. On scene the ILB found a Wind Farm vessel shadowing the casualty in case it got into serious difficulty.  ILB passed a line and towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

30th May @ 15:12 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a person cut off by the tide at Dumpton Gap. ILB got the person aboard the ILB and took them to Broadstairs Harbour.

28th May @ 08:28 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to assist with an on going incident.

27th May @ 21:48 ILB launched to a pleasure vessel requesting assistance due to engine failure, close to the harbour breakwater. By the time the ILB got to the casualty, it had drifted into Pegwell Bay and was aground.  ILB passed a line and managed to tow the casualty into deeper water and bring the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

6th May @ 21:05 ILB launched to a report of a missing person in the Pegwell Bay area. A thorough search was carried out by the ILB until a message came through that the person was found safely ashore. ILB returned to station.

1st May @ 15:11 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a RIB off Broadstairs. AWB passed a line and towed the RIB into Ramsgate Harbour.

25th April @ 13:45 after completing incident 8 the ILB was diverted to another yacht with engine failure struggling to get into the harbour under sail. The casualty wanted to sail into the harbour, then row to their berth.  ILB attached a line in the turning circle and towed the casualty onto its berth.

25th April @ 13:29 ILB launched to a 20ft yacht with engine failure just outside the harbour entrance.  ILB passed a line and towed the casualty into the harbour and put alongside a berth.

24th April @ 19:58 ILB launched to a motor boat with engine failure in Pegwell Bay near the river entrance. On scene the ILB passed a line and towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.

13th April @ 18:30 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a 10m cabin cruiser with engine failure 4.5 miles south of Ramsgate.  The ILB made their way to the position given by the Coastguard, but found nothing in the area. They then made their way South, where they could see a vessel and found it to be the casualty, which they took under tow and brought them into Ramsgate Royal Harbour.

The original position given by the coastguard had been estimated by tracing the casualties mobile phone signal, as this was the means that they had contacted the Coastguard.

29th March @ 15:37 ILB launched to assist Margate D class Lifeboat with a 21ft Bayliner with engine failure and 3 persons on board.  Ramsgate ILB took over the tow and bought the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.
Service Call 4
25th March @ 16:34 whilst ILB was out on exercise, they were diverted by UK Coastguard to a report of a potentially in the water. Margate D class, Rescue 163 (Helicopter) Police were all in attendance. The person was found safely ashore.

4th March @ 09:38 AWB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to attend the Thanet Offshore Windfarm, where a windfarm support vessel had found a lifejacket, T shirt and shoes in the water. On scene the AWB took on board the lifejacket from the windfarm vessel and then carried out an extensive search in the area, coordinated by UK Coastguard, along with rescue 167 (Coastguard Helicopter).  Once UK Coastguard were happy that nothing was in the area both ourselves and Rescue 167 were stood down.

Service Call 2
2nd February @ 13:11 ILB launched to a person cut off by the tide at stone bay. By the time the ILB arrived on scene the person had made their way to safety, assisted by other members of the public.  ILB returned to station.
Service Call 1
3rd January @ 13:20 ILB launched by UK Coastguard to a report of persons cut off by the tide between Stone Bay and Joss Bay.  ILB completed 6 shoreline searches with nothing found.  The ILB even stopped to speak to a couple of paddle boarders, but they had seen no one. Margate mobile Coastguard were also on scene carrying out a shore side search.  Once UK Coastguard were happy that no one was in difficulty, the ILB was released and returned to station.
