Service Call 20
29th June @ 14:58 ILB launched at the request of UK Coastguard to a 37ft yacht aground 3 miles South of Ramsgate Harbour. On scene the ILB crew passed a line to the casualty and attempted to tow the yacht into deeper water, but with no success as the yacht was hard aground, with a dropping tide. The ILB crew then took the casualties anchor, which was still attached to the yacht, and made it fast so that when the tide came in, the casualty wouldn't drift about. The yacht was then checked for damage and water ingress, which there was none, and as the crew aboard the yacht were happy to wait for the tide to make the Coastguard released the ILB to return to station.
