Ramsgate RNLI called to a fire on a guard vessel

Recently the Ramsgate RNLI All Weather Boat was launched at the request of HM Coastguard to a guard vessel 28 miles off Ramsgate with an engine room fire.

The casualty vessel was at this time under escort by the Dunkirk Lifeboat and another guard vessel but the Coastguard had requested the assistance of the Ramsgate Boat as well. The Dunkirk Lifeboat escorted the guard vessel over the shipping separation zone and then returned to base. When Ramsgate RNLI arrived on scene, there was no sign of the fire which had been in the exhaust lagging of the generator as it been brought under control by the crew onboard the casualty. As the casualty vessel was still capable of motoring in the All Weather Boat escorted it back to Ramsgate, where it was berthed in the outer harbour and attended by the Fire Service.

Mayday fund raiser

Sincere thanks to our very hard working fundraisers & everybody who came to support us at the Mayday Spring Fayre Saturday 12th May 2018. A special thank you to our entertainers for the event, the fabulous Greyhound Buskers who so generously made a donation to RNLI Ramsgate. They even wrote a special song in honour of the Yellow Welly Relay, simply superb. A well received £278.65 was raised during the event towards our Mayday campaign.
